SONIPAT CONSTITUTION MURAL
Sonipat Constituion mural was painted in 2024 at O.P Jindal University in Sonipat. The museum is considered the first Constitution Museum in India and hence it is the first Indian Constitution mural.
The most interesting fact about this project was that it was painted beneath the staircase and it was quite a challenging experience for all the artists. Since we are quite used to paint on vertical or horizontal walls, Sonipat Constitution mural challenged us to paint on the ceilings, which is the opposite side of the staircases. The mural artwork illustrates the constitutional rights of an Indian citizen which has been creatively rendered so that the viewers experience the mural while climbing the stairs.
The wall mural design visually interprets the fundamental rights of the constitution like Right to equality, Right to freedom, Right against exploitation, Right to freedom of religion etc in a very creative way. The mural transforms the staircase into an immersive space where art interprets the core constitutional principles.
