google doodle

I had the great opportunity to illustrate the Google Doodle for the Indian Independence Day in 2021. It was such a fulfilling experience for me as an illustrator. I was the Google Doodle illustrator for the Independence Day of 2021.
The idea of the Google Doodle design was to create something which connects the entire country together on the Independence Day. It is about the spirit of India and the unity in diversity of our country. I explored several Google Doodle concepts until I thought of the idea of using Indian traditional dance forms in the Google Doodle. India has Avery rich dance traditions which change from east to west and north to south.

I illustrated a lot of dance forms on paper to see whether the postures can make the letters well. Hence I chose, Bharatnatyam from Tamilnadu, Bihu from Assam, Bhangra from Punjab, Chhau from Bengal, Dandiya from Gujarat and Kathakali from Kerala.

These dance forms brought in a lot of vibrancy, energy into the illustration to make it a good Google Doodle design.
The final Google Doodle illustration celebrated the unity in diversity concept so well connecting the diverse dance forms together. When the Google Doodle went live, the response was pretty well and overwhelming.

Sundar Pichai, himself has shared the image on his profile. Still now It has been one of the most important and significant experience for me as an illustrator.
